Directed public-private partnership that used skills, public land and grant to lever in £45m Student Village.

Whilst leading the regeneration programme for Bradford Centre Regeneration, Stephen and Yaseen put together a partnership on behalf of City of Bradford MDC, Yorkshire Forward and the University of Bradford to secure investment by Welbeck Land and Hayaat plc into a fantastic student village of 1000 student beds for the University of Bradford. This scheme has been assessed by BREAAM as the most sustainable in the world, having a rating of over 95%.

BCR coordinated the assembly of land from the Council, University of Bradford and Yorkshire Forward including the relocation of the Velocity Business Centre tenants; and oversaw the business cases for approval by Yorkshire Forward of £1.75m of grant and all the legal agreements. This required tenacity and leadership being put together during the worst economic conditions for a generation. The scheme was built by GB Building Solutions to open for the start of the September 11 term .

The buildings are leased to the University on a long-nominations agreement
and act as the key catalyst for further investment in the adjacent Listerhills Triangle and the £750 million wider Learning Quarter.
